Revision rhinoplasties are redo operations that are performed if a patient is dissatisfied with the functional and/or aesthetic outcome from a previous procedure. A need for a revision does not imply that the original surgeon did a poor job. Even in the best hands healing after rhinoplasty can be unpredictable with a revision rate of approximately 10-20%. These problems can range from very minor that can be addressed in the office to major requiring more extensive operative time and recovery. Because there is scar tissue in the nose from prior surgery these procedures are more challenging technically. Therefore, you should avoid the casual rhinoplasty surgeon and seek out a surgeon who has done many of these procedures, and does them regularly. Dr. Wolpoe has extensive experience addressing these types of issues and will come up with a surgical plan that fits your aesthetic and functional needs.
